Pretty in Pink!

Ombre colors continue to trend as well as a focus on comfort food with a special interest in small bites (think macaroni & cheese nuggets) -well here they are in pink!
So fun and so great for October right! I found these on a fun website http://www.thesnug.com.

The playfulness is what really makes me :)

Clouds at a wedding - Can you imagine?

I love art and found this in Elle Decor…, amazing!

Wedding Registry - L'Ame de Christofle

Refreshing my creativity today.., sound like work?

Not! It means relaxing on the porch while pouring through magazines of every sort for hours (thanks Tina!).

The images in decor, fashion, entertainment, news, and pop culture magazines inspire me, keep my eyes keen and give me the skills to produce many different styles.

Isn't this silverware gorgeous! Elle Decor - What's Hot  " Desinger Eugenti Quitllet collaborated with silverware firm Christofle.  Each piece of L'Ame de Christofle is a splurge in the mid $30 range but it is just the two of us:)

Designing a wedding floor plan

Floor plans are a logistical and visual puzzle. With that said, I love rising to the challenge of engaging both sides of the brain (creative and mathematical) . There are the details like how many guests need to be seated, where is the dance floor, sweetheart table or not, where to place the DJ (and most importantly - are the speakers facing the "legal" direction).  While ensuring function - also designing a layout that is both visually appealing and striking . And just when you have that down you will want to factor in the budget:)

Not only is it a great tool to help couples visualize their event but it is also an indispensable aid for assigning seating arrangements. For vendors, it is an efficient way to order equipment rentals, ensure correct set-up and flow.

12th Avenue Grill

I admit it - I am a "foodie" and have been before the term existed. Between designing dinner menus, choosing appetizers, suggesting wine and cocktails, I really get to put my experience and palate to good use.
So imagine by delight when I worked with 12th Avenue Grill, the 2015 Hale Aina Restaurant of the Year, this month. They ensured a delicious menu that was well balanced and executed perfectly. One of the appetizers, the smoked Ahi Bruschetta was simply addictive and can the dip be purchased at select stores - http://12thavegrill.com/smoked-ahi-spread/

Cakeworks does cheesecakes!

Working with Abi and her crew at Cakeworks is a delicious and beautiful experience. This was a fun project and exactly what the bride wanted. A cheesecake top cake and mini cheesecakes with Chanel camilla roses.
The cake topper was purchased online but adding all the handmade bags was what really made it special. The bride's sister actually made each one of the shopping bags. Totally perfect little replica's.
The ribbon was supplied by the bride and the plexiglass stand was rented through Cakeworks. All these details came together to create the unique wedding cake that the bride desired. Pictured with the cake is the bride's sister whose labor of love was the "icing" on the look.

Loulu Palms - Scene One

My March 8th couple!

It was a short road to get to this moment because Parasol Events was brought in (to replace the previous planning company) a mere 15 business days before the wedding.  How did that happen? …, well that is a story for the bride and groom to tell:(
The challenge of organizing an event so close to the actual event date was a huge thrill for me. Being able to secure an amazing team of wedding professionals and assure all the fun & pretty details the bride cared about - big balloons - mini cheesecakes - were in place felt great!

This sunset shot was taken by Chrissy of Chrissy Lambert Photography was taken on the beach front Loulu Palms. More pics and details to follow:)

P.S. the vivid sky colors even coordinate with the bride's orange and yellow themed decor!

Edgy & Urban Engagement Shots - Kakaako

Kakaako has become artsy, hip and fun. It reminds me of a sunnier and lighter version of Seattle's Capital Hill. The industrial walls are now covered with exciting and meaningful street art.
Positive messages are always uplifting but check out the Kakaako's instagram to surf the more for the artistic images.
I find that Kakaako is a great place for flanerie (French for strolling, loafing, lounger), eating, shopping,  and photo shoots - head's up newly engaged couples.

Real Gastropub, Honolulu

Love that Beer, Love that Vibe - the Real Gastropub
As an after beach hang-out, a post-wedding rehearsal watering hole, Boy's Night Out (or GNO), Jack/Jill  -  it is just that right and relaxed.  Flights of beer really help me learn about what I like.

Here are the beers that I tasted: All were good but okay - anything salted caramel these days is bonus right!  And the Ahi Sliders - get several orders!   http://www.realgastropub.com

Hawaiian Inspired Slow Dance Song

Driving on the H1 headed towards Kokohead and really listened to this song by The Green. The Green, our local boys, have a fantastic sound and a successful band (+ they tour a lot!).
Chocolates & Roses is that romantic slow dance song. Heyyyyy to all those lovers. Have a listen…,

Unfrosted Wedding Cakes

The unfrosted (aka naked or nude) cake is on my radar as a natural complement to the rustic wedding theme. My favorite all time cake is German chocolate and I realized that this trend may have originated with it.
Being such a foodie, the main appeal is taste. I love cake and an appropriate amount of frosting is literally the "icing on the cake" But far too often, I find the frosting overwhelming. The overall flavor profile is butter and sugar. With an unfrosted cake the ratio of cake:frosting would naturally be better balanced.
Be aware - with a less then professional approach, for instance, uneven cake layers or sloppy icing will  result is an unfinished or homemade (and not in a good way) look.
A picture worthy cake will be executed with very symmetrical flat cake layers and an evenly frosted icing layer.
In my opinion, this style is especially flattering with chocolate cakes. And of course if an ombre style interests you then consider this trend - each layer will be visible.

Chocolate cakes really work well!
Gorgeous Ombre

Posted this cause it is my all time favorite cake since small kid time:)

So many pretty cakes on this website -http://stardustcelebrations.blogspot.com/2014/04/trend-alert-naked-cakes.html
